HONK’s Construction Volunteers are as Solid as the Foundation they Build.

One of the unique aspects of HONK’s construction volunteer base is their loyalty to our mission, returning regularly year after year. These guys aren’t going anywhere, they’re reliable, consistent, and determined to get the job done. Whether they’re retired or working part-time somewhere, HONK construction volunteers show up on weekdays and help our staff renovate HONK homes around the Northern Kentucky area.

Steve, one of HONK’s regular volunteers has been with us for over two years. HONK Construction Assistant Jim was a patient of Steve’s at his physical therapy office. During Jim’s appointments, he shared details with Steve about his work at HONK. Soon, after some gentle Jim persuasion, Steve decided to come out to a site and help out. He’s been returning ever since.

So what keeps volunteers coming back?

  • Friendly HONK Construction Staff Culture

Our construction team at HONK works to organize volunteers and assign them projects according to the volunteer’s skills, limitations, and preferences. The culture is lighthearted despite the hard work getting done.

  • The Rewarding Mission of Helping Others

HONK’s mission speaks for itself. As a construction volunteer, you witness the mission in action, you see it coming to life. You are a part of the bigger picture, helping families reach homeownership.

  • Hands-on Work and a Sense of Tangible Accomplishment.

Our construction volunteers enjoy hands-on labor. They like to problem solve and build things with their hands. HONK gives them a manual labor outlet, and for a great cause.

HONK construction volunteers are glued to the mission. They come out once and keep returning. Though we’re not surprised, we are eternally grateful for them and their dedication. If you’re interested in joining as a HONK construction volunteer, whether it be regularly or infrequently, reach out to Jeremy our Construction Manager at jeremyl@honkhomes.org
