HONK has an opening for an AmeriCorps Member in Construction. This is a full-time volunteer service role at HONK, thanks to our partnership with the Homeless & Housing Coalition of Kentucky. The AmeriCorps Member will help build, rehab and repair homes to assist HONK in its mission to help low-income families and individuals reach the goal of stable homeownership through programs of education and support.

The AmeriCorps Member will receive a small living allowance (estimated at $2,000/mo.) and have an opportunity for basic healthcare during their year of service with HONK.  They will also receive an education award of $6,895 when they have completed the program (1700 hours) that can be used toward the payment of student loans or continuing education. The education award can also be passed on to children or grandchildren.

This is a full-time one-year commitment starting August 1, 2023. Background check, drug screen, and valid driver’s license is required. Those interested should contact David by email at dhastings@honkhomes.org or phone 859-581-4665.

We strongly encourage candidates to express interest early in the process and to contact us first to discuss the opportunity before applying.  If you are getting anxious, however, the application is available here as an online Google form through our partner, The Homeless & Housing Coalition of Kentucky. If you want to help build, rehab, and repair homes in Northern Kentucky with HONK, you’ll need to indicate your desire to serve with Housing Opportunities of Northern Kentucky (HONK) in the application.
